But the Lone Star State is not even half the size of the biggest state, Alaska. Though it ranks fourth on the list, it has a population of around only 1.05 million. New Mexico is a Southwestern state in the United States. It ranks fifth on our list and it is about 370 miles long and 343 miles wide. This state shares an international border with the country of Mexico. Oregon is a coastal U.S. state in the Pacific Northwest. It is the ninth largest state in the US and it is less than one-sixth the size of Alaska. The population of the state of Oregon is around 4.1 million. A famous lake called the Crater Lake is found in Oregon and it is the deepest lake in the United States and it is formed in the remains of an ancient volcano. The state was founded in 1859 and it is quite famous for its unique wildlife, natural beauty and traditions.
